In the heart of every community, there are individuals who face unique challenges in accessing essential services such as transport, participating in social activities, and maintaining their independence.

Recognising the need to bridge this gap, STAR Community Services, a non-profit organisation, is offering reliable and affordable community transport services to residents of Stanthorpe and surrounding areas.

STAR’s award winning transport services are available to people aged over 65 as an aged care service. Under the Community Transport Funding STAR is also able to support individuals aged 18 to 65 years of age, with disability, chronic or mental health conditions, are financially disadvantaged, and not supported through other funding schemes.

STAR, with its long-standing reputation for providing care with compassion, is dedicated to delivering a range of aged care and disability support services that cater to the most vulnerable members of our community.

“Transport is essential in connecting individuals to the rest of the community and supporting them in reaching their life goals, whatever they may be,” said Patsy Wilshire, STAR CEO.

“I’ve lived in the Granite Belt area for just under five years. I moved to this beautiful area after quitting my corporate job. Our hopes of trekking the National Trail for three months with my two horses were interrupted by Covid-19 and we ended up renting a farm at Pozieres,“ she said.

“We have called Stanthorpe our home ever since. We absolutely love it here, especially the four seasons as they remind me of my home country Germany. I am grateful to live amongst such a tight knit community.”

If you or someone you know needs support with transport, please give STAR a call. You may be eligible to access government subsidised transport service.
