Allora’s Queensland Fire and Rescue auxiliary firefighters and Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ) crews have recently moved into newly refurbished facilities at 3 Muir Street, Allora.

The $970,000 project, completed in June 2024, included extensive upgrades to both the Fire and Rescue Station and the Rural Fire Service Queensland facility.

The refurbishment features new kitchens, training areas, flooring, storerooms, fixtures, and lighting. External improvements include new fencing, driveways, and signage, providing enhanced functionality and safety for the fire services.

The opening of the refurbished facilities took place during Rural Fire Service (RFS) Week, a time dedicated to honouring the more than 27,000 volunteer members across Queensland.

The ceremony also saw the handover of a new medium appliance truck to the Allora District Rural Fire Brigade, replacing their former vehicle just in time for the upcoming bushfire season.

During the event, several firefighters were recognized for their dedication and service. The National Medal, QFES Medal, and Diligent and Ethical Service Medal with first and second clasps were awarded to current and former Allora firefighters, including former auxiliary firefighter Matthew Heslin, Auxiliary Firefighters Andrew Petersen and Ross Williams, and Rural Firefighter Frederick McCann.
