The Stanthorpe Bridge Club is inviting the community to join them for their social bridge evenings, offering an opportunity for both newcomers and seasoned players to enjoy the game in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Starting from 14 August, the club will host these social evenings every Wednesday from 7 pm to 9 pm, providing tea and coffee for attendees.

Whether you’re a novice looking to learn or an experienced player wanting to sharpen your skills, all are welcome to participate.

Janine Cumming, President of the Stanthorpe Bridge Club, emphasised the importance of bridge as a social connector for members of all ages.

“For our members, bridge is not just a game; it’s a way to maintain connections and support, especially as they age,” Ms Cumming said.

“Younger members benefit from broader social interactions through inter-club competitions, and they also have the chance to meet new people when visiting other clubs while travelling.”

Ms. Cumming also highlighted how the game has evolved, particularly with the rise of online play due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“My partner and I are currently competing against players from all over, including places like Hervey Bay, Wollongong, and Wagga,” she said.

“Bridge offers the pleasure of strategic thinking, successful communication with your partner, and it aids in memory and problem-solving skills.”

The Stanthorpe Bridge Club’s social evenings are open to everyone, and the club encourages those interested in learning more about the game to attend.
