The lovely pipe organ at St Paul’s Anglican Church in Stanthorpe will have two roles during a concert open to all on Sunday 15 September.

It will actually be the star of the show, with keys, pedals, pipes and bellows getting a workout of the most musical kind when talented players present organ favourites including the exuberant Bach Toccata and Fugue in D Minor.

The organ will also be the recipient of the funds raised from the concert, as pipe organs require on-going maintenance to keep them in good condition.

As well as talented organists, the concert will feature popular Southern Downs chamber group, the Occasional Players, soloists and a local singing group, Hollytops, presenting mostly a capella pieces.

This year the pipe organ celebrates 60 years in the community. It was built by an amateur organ builder in Toowoomba in the 1950s and was installed at St Paul’s in 1964.

The concert will start at 2pm on 15 September. Make sure you ‘earmark’ the date in your diary so you don’t miss it.
