Dr Cedric Wise, a distinguished veterinarian from Glen Aplin and a globally recognised authority on cattle breeding, has been announced as the second guest speaker for the Rotary Club of the Granite Belt’s (RCOTGB) upcoming Bling and Bowtie event.

Event coordinator and RCOTGB secretary, Perditta O’Connor, expressed her excitement about Dr. Wise’s participation, highlighting his significant contributions to the industry.

“Dr Wise is an exceptional figure in the veterinary and cattle breeding fields,” said Ms O’Connor.

“He’s a graduate of the University of Queensland who began his career in Warwick, working alongside a well-known and respected veterinarian.

“His passion for cattle breeding eventually led him to Colorado University in the United States, where he furthered his studies.”

Dr Wise’s career has been marked by innovation and leadership. He has pioneered artificial breeding techniques for cattle and has gained a global reputation as one of the leading experts in the field.

Despite his international acclaim, Dr Wise’s roots remain firmly planted in Glen Aplin, where his journey began. Today, he operates multiple businesses across Queensland and serves on several government advisory boards.

“It’s an important story,” Ms O’Connor said.

“Someone from our community reaching the pinnacle of their chosen career is inspiring.

“Yet, despite his success, many people here don’t know him well because of how often he’s on the road, practising his craft.”

The Bling and Bowtie event will provide a unique opportunity for attendees to hear from Dr Wise and fellow guest speaker Bernie Pramberg in a “fireside chat” format.

Mr Pramberg, another local success story, is a fourth-generation Glen Aplin resident who has had a remarkable career in media, covering major events such as the American Open in Augusta and earning a place in the Sunshine Coast Hall of Fame.

“Both speakers have incredible stories of how they’ve reached the top of their fields, despite their industries being miles apart,” Ms O’Connor said.

“It’s a rare opportunity for people to get to know these accomplished individuals from our own community.”

In addition to the insightful conversations, the evening will support the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS), an organisation that plays a vital but often unrecognised role in the Stanthorpe community. The event will also feature a heartfelt story from a local family whose lives were profoundly impacted by the RFDS.

O’Connor encouraged the community to attend, emphasising that tickets are still available.

“We’d love everyone to come along and support this important cause. It promises to be a fantastic night with inspiring stories and a chance to make a real difference,” she said.
