An Allora cattle producer has captured the attention of potential buyers with a dominant display of breeding excellence at this year’s Royal Queensland Show.

Taking to the prestigious Ekka Beef Week cattle exhibition, NIOA pastoral company took home a hefty haul of competition ribbons. These included Reserve Champion Bull (8 months and under 12 months), second place in the hotly contested senior cow class and second in the senior bull under 24 months class

Their success came across various categories in a bumper 109-head Ekka Santa Gertrudis field.

For Rob and Eliza Nioa of NIOA Santa Gertrudis, the prizes marked 10 years since they launched their operation.

Property manager Shannon Gardner said the 2024 sale draft reflected the stud’s continued investment in the best Australian and American bloodlines.

“I’m excited about this year’s lineup,” Mr Gardner said.

“It’s an exceptional draft of premium stud beef showcasing the finest genetics and quality in the industry.

“We’ve been working on taking our breeding program to the next level in recent years to ensure our cattle have the perfect blend of performance and commercial relevance.”

This year’s Ekka wrapped-up on Sunday after nine days of showcasing the bush to the city.

AgForce chief executive Michael Guerin said this year’s show proved Queenslanders could be “immensely proud” of the state’s agricultural industry.

“The locally grown, healthy food we find on our supermarket shelves 365 days a year comes from the producers who are at the EKKA and would welcome the chance to showcase what they do,” he said.

Agriculture minister Mark Furner described this year’s exhibitors as “extraordinary”.
