Freestone Memorial Hall is set to undergo essential restumping work, thanks to a grant from the Gaming Community Benefit Fund and generous contributions from the local community.

The upgrade will help preserve the hall as a vital community facility for future generations.

Simon Goddard, President of Freestone Memorial Hall, expressed his gratitude for the support received.

“The works are vital to maintain the hall as a community facility into the future. Thanks go to all those who assisted in the grant application, particularly Marianne Whitby, Teilah McKelvey, and Kerry Fearby,“ he said.

Kerry Fearby, the driving force behind the restumping project, shared her excitement about the upcoming works.

“We are so proud and excited to see this project come to fruition. This project is not just for the hall and committee but for every member of our beautiful community,“ Kerry said.

The project has been made possible by the dedication of various community members and groups, including the hall’s Craft ladies, contributors to the Jumpers and Jazz Festival, and donors to the Restumping Fund.

“The evidence supplied for our grant application, along with the hard work of these groups, has all made this possible,“ Kerry added. “The foundations will be completed in readiness for further upgrades. Here’s to awesome things for our hall, working together for the betterment of our community.“

With the foundations set to be restored, the Freestone Memorial Hall will continue to serve as a hub for the local community, with more upgrades expected in the future.
