Stacey Gabriel, Lending Officer for Warwick Credit Union’s Killarney branch, has been a valuable asset to the local community since she began serving the area in April 2023.
With a deep appreciation for the town’s close-knit spirit, Stacey brings both professional expertise and a personal connection to the people she assists.
“I was extremely lucky to be given this opportunity,“ Stacey shares. “Having a lender come out to the Killarney branch is a great advantage to all.“
One of the things Stacey loves most about Killarney is its strong sense of community. “The best thing about Killarney is the community involvement,“ she says.
Outside of work, Stacey’s time is mostly spent with her family—her three kids, her part-time job, and her self-employed husband keep her busy.
However, she and her family enjoy exploring local spots when they can. “Our girls love swimming, whether it’s at the local pool or other hidden spots.“
When it comes to her favourite Killarney places, Stacey highlights two: “First, the pub—this is where I met my husband in 2003, and it’s also a place for family gatherings. The food is always great, and the beer is always cold. Second, Queen Mary Falls—it’s the perfect spot to take the kids, feed the birds, and walk the trail. It’s always a hit with our girls.“
Stacey’s journey into banking was a natural progression that began about a decade ago. “I kind of fell into banking. There wasn’t a conscious decision at first, but it became my career path,“ she explains.
“I left Suncorp in 2021 and tried employment services, but that only reinforced that banking is where I belong. I love helping people—whether it’s first-time homebuyers or business owners looking for their next investment.“
Her favourite part about Killarney? “It’s the people. The community spirit here is amazing, especially the support in hard times.“
As a dedicated member of the community, Stacey enjoys participating in local events. “Our favourite is the Killarney Bonfire Night—it’s always a hit,“ she says.
She also finds joy in the year-round beauty of Killarney, saying, “Winter is great if you like the cold—you might even catch some snow up The Head. Summer means Sundays at the pub, park or pool visits, and friends dropping in.“
When it comes to supporting local businesses, Stacey praises the new owners of Killarney’s Top Shop. “They’re extremely friendly and welcoming, and the food is great.“ She also highlights the Killarney Co-op as a place where you can find anything you need. “From groceries to lunch, electrical needs to chicken feed, the Co-op has it all.“
Stacey’s experience in Killarney goes beyond her professional role at the Credit Union. The community has embraced her and the services she provides, with locals returning for follow-up advice and referring friends and family. “I’ve been so lucky to have the support of Helen Ross, who is the heart of Warwick Credit Union in Killarney,“ Stacey says.
Recently, her family faced a challenging time when her nephew was involved in an accident. The outpouring of support from the Killarney community was overwhelming. “The generosity, visits, and concern for his welfare have been incredible. I knew Killarney was a great place before this, but now I know there’s no place like it.“
Stacey’s role as a lending officer in Killarney has not only brought valuable financial services to the town but has deepened her connection with the community, solidifying her belief that Killarney is a truly special place to live and work.
