Zonta Club of Warwick recently took part in Queensland’s Child Protection Week, held from 1 to 7 September.

The week aimed to raise awareness about child protection, child abuse prevention, and provide education and support for children, young people, and families.

On Thursday, 5 September, Zonta Warwick president Colleen Hunt and vice-president Susan Shaw visited Warwick West State School to donate a set of 12 educational books.

The donation was part of the club’s initiative to equip local schools with resources to foster important discussions around child protection.

The “Big Little Chats” series, authored by Jayneen Sanders, addressed challenging topics such as consent, feelings, equality, and empathy.

Each book was designed to help primary-aged children navigate these sensitive issues and included activities for parents and teachers to encourage thoughtful dialogue.

Zonta Warwick also committed to distributing these book sets to all primary schools in the Warwick area, continuing their mission to support children and promote education on critical social topics.
