New members welcome

Warwick Aero Modellers Inc (WAM) wish to introduce their club to the general public.
The club was formed in early 2011 to cater for the needs of radio controlled model aircraft enthusiasts in and around the Warwick district.
The club was started in response to an article placed in the newspaper by local enthusiasts Peter Earles and Rod Crossman.
Since that time, WAM has been incorporated and is now recognised by the MAAA (Model Aircraft Association of Australia) and as such, the appropriate insurances are in place.
Originally, the club flew at Henry Joppich Park, subsequently moving to a new site at the Morgan Park sporting facility, which is located along Old Stanthorpe Road, just five minutes outside the Warwick township.
WAM utilises the bottom end of the drag strip for regular monthly club meetings. This area provides a tar runway that has attracted modellers from as far away as the Gold Coast, that fly aircraft with “real jet engines”.
Negotiations with Southern Downs Regional Council are underway for a site of their own at the Morgan Park Complex which, if successful, will be dedicated to RC flying.
For the budget minded, R/C flying has never been more affordable than it is today. Mail order houses, such as ‘Hobby King’, can supply aircraft Ready to Fly (RTF).
Gone are the days where considerable time and effort went into constructing kits. Electric power is by far the most popular. There is no noise or dirty fuel residue on the model to contend with. The scale-like detail and presentation of these models is truly amazing.
Some people consider aero modelling is playing with toys; nothing is further from the truth.
They are miniature aircraft under the control of the Civil Aviation Authority.
The club has 17 members and would warmly welcome any newcomers.
So come along, bond with family and meet new friends, have a barbecue lunch, talk to like-minded people and see why RC flying is such a great pastime. The sport caters for all enthusiasts, regardless of age. You don’t have to be young, just young at heart.
