Granite Belt Physie bring home the medals

7 Years Girls Team.

Over the past two weekends, 40 Granite Belt YMCA physie members have taken part in the club’s first ever Far North Coast Physical Culture Junior and Ladies Zone Competitions.
All girls and ladies per-formed extremely well in the large competition and were lucky enough to bring home four individual places and one team place. The club had four teams competing, starting off with the club’s 5-6yr team looking so very cute, a special mention to Nicole four yrs and Beth three yrs, competing in the team.
The 7-8yr and 11-12yr team also did extremely well and had lots of fun. Our Intermediate ladies’ team took home third place out of seven teams. This was the first time all eight ladies have ever worked together.  The club was thrilled to have three junior teams and one ladies’ team in their first year of operation.
Semi-finalists for the junior weekend were 5yrs-Abby, Milly, Amanda; 7yrs-Kaidance, Ruby, Matilda, Sophie; 8yrs-Haylee, Arliah, Zarlie; 10yrs-Holli,  Emily(team member); 11yrs-Samantha; 12yrs-Emma, Lakisha, Hollie, Chelsea; 14yrs-Montana. The club were excited to have three girls make the zone final: 5yrs-Elly, 9yrs-Hannah, 12yrs-Tayla; and are thrilled to have three girls representing the club at the Natuonal Finals at Homebush in late November. 6yrs- 4th place Paige, 7yrs-1st place, Natasha, 10yrs-3rd place Jessica.
In the Novice ladies’ section 48 ladies competed, with four from The Granite Belt. All four, Bronwyn, Nikki, Beck and Emma-Jean made the top 30 in the semi-finals, with two, Beck and Emma-Jean, moving into the final top 15. The club had two ladies, Nat and Anita, representing the club in the open under 33 section; both ladies performed extremely well. Teacher Rachel competed in the open over 33 section, taking out 4th place, she now travels to Sydney to compete at the national finals.
Sunday saw two of the senior girls compete in their age sections and to do a display of the 2nd yr and open syllabus. Stacey took out 1st place in the 15year section. All Senior girls, Kimberley, Jennah, Jess and Stacey now travel to Homebush Sydney to compete for selection into the national final to be held at the Sydney Opera House on November 20.
