Under the guidance of manager Mark Lanza, the Darling Downs and South West Under 13 Zone side travelled to Charters Towers during the holiday break to compete in the Queensland Junior Championships. The team suffered only one loss in their five games and finished at the top of the table with 39.73 points comfortably ahead of runners-up Wide Bay.
Stanthorpe junior player Jordan Lanza impressed with the ball, taking nine wickets in the five games the team played. For a left arm opening bowler, he also performed well with the bat. Sounds as though we will hear more of young Jordan as he progresses through the ranks.
After the extraordinary conditions of the past few weeks, golfers and bowlers from around the district who had been suffering a little dose of cabin fever were able to hit the greens and fairways last weekend and during the past week.
