Another big day at Tanny

By Casey O'Connor

The Burmester Memorial Day at the Tannymorel Bowls Club was a day that had it all.

Good bowls, heaps of fun and rain glorious rain.

The Memorial Day is held in memory of Jean Vern and Di Burmester who were not only great members of the community but also a very big party of the local community.

Not surprisingly there was a huge roll up for the event.

Jack Breen, Courtney Mikkelsen, Robyn Lechner and Col Grace took the honours on the green. Runners up were Mark Burmester, Damon Goodwin, Mitch Smith and Matty (no 1) Shepherd (or so he thinks).

The winning team had a 17-6 win over Thomison Keogh Cooter and Lochy Boal. The runners up defeated Hannah Keogh, Matt roach, Blake Graham and Thommo 12-9.

All other games were also very close none more so than the battle between the team of Robyn Mc Donald Blake Galvin Jen Crook and Croc who played out a nine all draw against Glen McDonald Ryan Boal Rob Burmester and Coire Burmester.

Sue Burmester Ben Tasky Di Walsh and Tim Crook had a two point win over Aliza Shellbach Kyle Ragh Glen Boal and Rossco Burmester – final score 13-11.

There was also only two points between Norm Mc Donald Kacie Crook Zoe Smith and Brian Walsh who played Damo Boal John Shellbach Jessie Wallace and Mick O’Leary. The score in this game 9-7.

After the action out on the green the big crowd enjoyed baked meal and the Karaoke apparently was a hoot. The form tip after the Karaoke is that Coire Burmester should definitely not give up his day job.

Organisers of the popular Tanny Classic remind everyone that it is “on again”. The opening round gets underway on Friday (12/8). Names are to be in by 6.00pm with bowls commencing at 6.30.

Everyone is welcome – you don’t need to be a bowler – come along and join the fun and perhaps even share in some of the spoils.
