The QCC Over 40’s side has been bringing a side to more than 30 years and each relish their visit to Stanthorpe to wrap up their playing year with a game against an invitation Stanthorpe Over 40’s side.

The annual game was played on Saturday on the CF White Oval and the visitors were determined to get their name back on the Wickets O’Connor Trophy after they were defeated last year.

QCC won the toss and had no hesitation in batting first. Captain Seamus Robertson led from the front top scoring as his side set the Stanthorpe players a target in excess of 160.

In reply the Stanthorpe side looked for well on their way to the total before a mid innings collapse saw them dismissed 134 with plenty of overs remaining. QCC opening bowler Justin French took three key wickets for the visitors and earned himself the QCC Player of the Match. Todd Beckett was named Stanthorpe Player of the Match.

Once again the annual game was played in the true spirit of the game and the QCC group were full of praise for the CF White wickets and the Stanthorpe facilities.

In a return to a long standing tradition, following the game the QCC players kicked up their heels in end of year fashion at Wickets in Britannia Street.
