Players hope for weather break

Lawn Bowlers from the Southern Downs planning to head west for the Goondiwindi Bowls Club’s Gunsynd Classic Open Four’s Carnival this weekend will be hoping for a break in the weather. This weekend’s carnival (Sat 29/ Sun 30) carries prizemoney of $2500.

There will also be a Calcutta at 9am prior to the start of the competition.

The Calcutta will be followed by three rounds of bowls and on Sunday by a further two rounds.

Play gets underway at 8.30am on Sunday morning. The entry fee is $320 per team or $80 per individual and includes Green fees lunch and High Tea on both days.

The conditions of play will see players competing over 14 ends or to the bell; wins to count first; win Plus One point for an end per game; dead ends-Jack to be respotted.

The split of Prizemoney is $700 (1st place); $400 (2nd place) $200 (3rd place).
