The Southern Downs Men’s District Fours competition was held last weekend and teams from the Summit Bowls Club quinellaed the Championship.
The Southern Cross Bowls Club and Warwick East Club hosted the sectional rounds which were played on Saturday. The semi-finals and final were played at Warwick East on Sunday.
Several teams from the Summit nominated and three teams made it through the Sectionals to Sunday’s semi-finals.
In the first game Paul Zamprogno, Brian Wilmot Michael Sweeney and Tyler Sweeney defeated the Texas team of R Williams, P Gynther W Smith and N Morris by four shots to book their place in the final. The score 22-18.
In the second semi Peter Ayerst, Matt Shepherd, Carl Sutherland and Peter Collis played Darren Stanley, Ron Capelli, Steve Martin and Mark Spiller. Spiller’s team proved too strong and scored a comfortable 24-12 making the final an all Summit Bowls Club affair.
In the final Mark Spiller’s team proved too strong and won the title giving the Summit the Quinella in the 20223 SDMBA Fours competition and certainly bragging rights.
