Orienteering event for Southport

Bullecourt Bounders Club President, Doug Wilson, is pictured briefing some of the newcomers ahead of their runs Sunday in Gleeson Park Stanthorpe.

Gleeson Park, Stanthorpe proved a popular venue for Sunday’s Orienteering event hosted by the Bullecourt Bounders.

Among the more than 50 participants were a number of students who will be participating in the Darling Downs Schools Orienteering trials to be held at The Glen between Warwick and Stanthorpe in early March (9/3).

This group was very keen to get as much practice as possible under their belts before the event.

Orienteers from Toowoomba, Warwick, Killarney and the Granite Belt were joined on Sunday by students from St Joseph’s School Stanthorpe and their parents.

All participants (no matter what level) handled the courses well and the venue, Gleeson Park got the thumbs up as a pleasant place to spend an energetic Sunday morning.

The Bullecourt Bounders will be conducting another training day at Braeside on 12 March. That will be followed by the club’s first bush event in the Amiens area the following Sunday, 19 March. More details of the bush even will be available closer to the date.
