The Warwick Cowboys celebrated a clean-sweep in their Toowoomba Rugby League games against Oakey on Saturday night in front of a big crowd at Oakey’s home base, Trevor Mickelborough Oval .

In an impressive performance which highlighted the depth the Cowboys have this season all three teams tasted success.

The Under 19’s were clinical in their 42-10 win. The Reserve Grade also looked sharp scoring a 32-8 win.

In the A Grade game the Cowboys looked very impressive as they notched up back to back wins defeating Oakey 42-16.

In a polished performance that pleased their coach Colin Speed, the Cowboys were out of the blocks quickly with a try to Nic Chapman in the opening minutes of the game. The fullback converted his own try. It was the first of seven successful conversions.

First half tries to Captain Mitch Wilson and versatile second rower Tate Brombal saw the Cowboys go to the halftime break with a healthy 18-6 half time lead.

The Cowboys sealed the game with an impressive second half performance, but it was not all plain sailing. Oakey were the first to score in the second half. The Bears defence kept the Cowboys at bay until the 56th minute.

Coming off the interchange bench, the speedy Tyrelle Ross was the first of the Cowboy’s second half try scorers. He along with the captain, Mitch Wilson and Nic Chapman scored doubles.

In an outstanding individual performance Chapman who picked up three points in the Webcke Price medal race finished the game with a personal tally of 22 points. It was a player of the match performance.

The Bears were not disgraced competing well, but unforced handling errors cost them dearly. The Cowboys capitalised making the most of the opportunities handed to them. Aaron Cherry Sione Lopamaua were the best for the home team.

The Cowboy’s A Grade side has had a great start to the season but face a litmus test this weekend when they host the defending premiers Wattles.
