The Warwick Cowboys A Grade side continued their dream start to season 2023 of the Hutchinson Builders Toowoomba Rugby League A grade competition with a dominant 38-0 win over Brothers at Glenholme Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Warwick defence was impressive.

They held a 14-nil lead at the half time break and went on with the job in the second half. They held Brothers scoreless throughout to keep their undefeated record intact.

The Leprechauns might not have troubled the scoreboard attendant and despite the lopsided scoreline the beaten side had their chances.

Several of the Cowboy’s players and their coach Col Speed were involved in the Toowoomba Clydesdale’s win in the 47th Battalion carnival and they returned with plenty of enthusiasm and confidence which looks like it has rubbed off on the team.

It was a good performance across the board from the Cowboys, but Byron Creighton, Lachlan Ghee and Harry Sullivan were stand out performers. Another player who had a big game was Nicholas Donghi who came off the bench and scored two tries.

No surprise that Creighton and Sullivan earned Webcke Price points.

Captain Mitch Wilson had a solid game at the helm of the team playing another great captain’s knock as Cowboys fans have come to expect.

Neihana Oldham who is aligned with the Western Clydesdales was Brothers best. In a well beaten side Preston Alberts and Keelan Clayton never stopped trying.

Warwick 38 (Nicholas Donghi 2, Tyrelle Ross 2, Jake Speed, Anare Vala, Morgan Byrne, Alailima Maafu tries Nick Carrie 3 goals) defeated Brothers 0

The Cowboy’s face fellow undefeated side Dalby Diehards next week in a top of the ladder clash on Saturday night at Fr Ranger Oval. On paper it looks a mouth-watering match up.

The A Grade game kicks off at 6.30pm.

In the Reserve Grade game on the weekend, Warwick scored an overwhelming 86-0 win over Toowoomba Brothers. The Cowboys piled on 15 tries.

Players lined up to score. Joe Wagner and Dylan Lippi headed the try scoring count each crossing on three occasions.

One of the best players on the field was fullback Matthew Hendry who also had plenty of opportunity to hone his goal kicking skills in the big win. He booted 12 conversions.
