Liz Cockram and Narelle Norris took out the final of the prestigious Warwick Golf Club Honour Board J D Rowland Foursomes in a tight final tussle on Sunday.

The winners, and their opponents in the final Melanie McLennan and Jill Barnes, all played outstanding golf in the early rounds of the competition to progress to the final.

Norris and Cockram worked well as a team and were able to take an early lead in the final, holding a two-up lead after nine holes.

When Cockram made a long putt from off the green to par the 12th the team moved to a a solid four-up lead.

And while McLennan and Barnes played some good golf, they had trouble making a dent in the score.

However, the pair were not going down without a fight with McLennan nailing a long putt on the 14th to square the hole, sending the finalist down the 15th.

The final certainly did not disappoint and after leading throughout, Cockram and Norris prevailed 5/3.

Organisers were pleased to see quite a large gallery following the play and offering encouragement to both teams.

Churches of Christ sponsored the JD Rowland event and in addition to the honour of having their name added to the Clubhouse board the winners received vouchers from One Table Café and Function Centre.
