Winning Wattles jump to third

Wattles Prop Jacob Leach set the platform for his sides big win over Newtown in round 10. The prop earning three Webcke Price Medal points for his Man of the Match performance in the game.

The defending 2022 Toowoomba Rugby League A grade premiers Wattles Warriors continue to work their way up the 2023 TRL Hutchinson Builders ladder and now sit in third spot on equal points with the Warwick Cowboys.

The Warriors recent winning run continued on Friday night when they travelled to Toowoomba to play the Newtown Lions In a game dominated by Wattles, they put nine tries on the Lions racing away with a 46-6 win.

Centre Austin Jennings has been consistently one of Wattles best performers in recent week and on Saturday night scored the majority of their nine try haul. Helping himself to four tries. Jennings took full advantage of the teams go forward led by prop Jacob Leach in a man of the match performance.

Jennings has now scored 14 tries this season and sits just two tries behind the competition’s leading try scorer, Chris Woodridge (Dalby).

Fullback Joe Willet also played well scoring a double. Players lined up to add their name to the try scorers list. Jake Meddelton, Jacob Leach and the consistent Ty Gardner all scored. Brayden Paix kicked five conversions.

There was only one other game on Friday night as Newtown do not have an Under 19 side.

A Grade, Wattles 46 (Austin Jennings (4), Joe Willett (2), Jake Meddleton, Jacob leach, Ty Gardner tries; Brayden Paix 5 goals) defeated Newtown 6 (Ben Holman try; Cameron Moodie goal).

The Reserve Grade team also scored a very comfortable 36 -4 win

This weekend Wattles host Brothers in a Saturday night game at their home ground Platz Oval and will be short-priced favourites to extend their winning run.
