Allora took out the team points, led by strong performances by Alyssa and Jett White and Charley and Samantha Murray at the Warwick Swim Club’s carnival on Sunday in Warwick.

Only holding their first swim club night of the season on Friday night, the Warwick Club dived straight in to host one of the first carnivals of the season less than two days later.

Club vice president Dom Benz said it promises to be a good season for the Warwick club which is still looking for more members.

“We kicked off on Friday night – with the first of our two free come and try nights,” he said.

“I would have estimated there were about 15-20 kids that came along to try it out on top of our normal kids. We’ve had a few new kids join already too which is great.

“I think we were already working on about 60 members last year. We meet every Friday night 5-7 from October. It goes from six through to 17 which is our open class.”

He said they then backed up with the carnival on Sunday morning – attracting 153 kids from all types of clubs.

“We had competitors from right through out the district and out to Brisbane. We are one of the first short course competitions of the year. We are kind of happy to get our out of the way early. We get a good lineup because everyone wants to get back in the pool but competition is less intense purely because it’s the first carnival. But we ended up attracting 18 different clubs for this years event from across Southern Qld. There were a lot from Toowoomba Clubs but then we had Ipswich, Pimpama, Tenterfield, Beaudesert – it was a good spread.”
