24 teams from across the Southern Downs district were on the green on Saturday playing the Sectional round of the competition.

The winners and runners up from the two sections moved through to the finals on Sunday.

Eventual winners, Pam Moore, Frank Taylor and Eliseo Zamprogno scored a 23-19 win over Judy Richardson (Tenterfield), Neville Richardson (Tenterfield) and Neville Morris (Inglewood) in the first of the semifinals.

Organisers were somewhat disappointed with the numbers playing in the final District comepitition hf the year but concede holding the competition so late in the year was in part responsible.

The 2024 event has been moved to date earlier in the year.

There were some very close games over the weekend and spectators witnessed some very good bowling.

Despite the recent very wet weather the green at The Summit ran very well thanks to the efforts of the Summit President and Greenkeeper Graeme.

This was the final District event this year however the nomination forms for the 2024 Men’s District Fours have been forwarded to all clubs.

Please forward completed nominations to Paul Beaman either on the form or by email.
