Basketball season is just a week away in Warwick but there is still time to sign-up according to the organiser.

South West Queensland Championships coordinator and South West Qld Sport and Recreation Association president Pop Dickerson said the weekly competition is played at Wirac each week with seniors on Thursdays from 6pm and Juniors on Friday.

“Basketball is really coming along well in this area, our competition is getting bigger so it’s really happening,” he said.

“We’ve been going to Toowoomba to play teams up there quite regularly and the Warwick teams are acquitting themselves quite well.”

“People can still join and put a team in and if they don’t have a team we will find one for them.

“In the senior competition we have nine teams which is good, the games start at 6pm, the last game is at 8pm and we finish at 9pm,” he said.

“With the juniors we run that on the Friday from 3.45pm to 5pm we have under-eights, under 10s and under 12s. After that from 5pm to 6.15 we have under 14s to under 18s.

“We officially start the competition next week. They can still get in an join this week but after that we will be locking it up.

“Our website isn’t ready yet but if they want to play they should show up at that particular time this week,” he said.

“The little ones at 3.45pm and the older kids at 5pm or they can ring me.”
