Junior Rules programs begin

The Redbacks junior Aussie Rules players are back on the paddock today.

While the Warwick Redbacks Australian Rules club continues to chase men and women for their senior ranks, the club’s juniors ready for a new year of football.

Senior coach Tyhe Clarkson said two junior football programs will start today (22 February).

“Reddies footy will run alongside our Auskick program,” he said.

“We are attempting to create enough numbers to field an Under 12 side this season to re-enter the Darling downs juniors competition. The Under 12 side travels to play other teams in the Darling Downs and will also play games at our home field.

“Reddies juniors will have eight sessions which will be a mixture of drills and match play.

“We are welcoming players that are keen to play as part of the under 12 Redbacks team as well as players that are simply wanting to give AFL a go.

“If we successfully get our under 12 team back into the darling downs comp any of the Reddies footy participants that want to continue playing the season will have that initial $90 taken away from their rego for the season.

“And we are still chasing men and women for our senior teams with training 6pm Thursday nights- new players can come to training or contact the club Facebook page or myself on 0447086008.”

He said both programs will be run at Warwick Credit Union Oval from 4.30pm-5.30pm on Thursday’s both costing $90 for eight weeks.

Auskick 5-12 years, includes an Auskick pack with a football etc while in the Reddies footy/under 12s, they receive a Redbacks Polo Shirt.
