Warwick Hockey Associations Seniors competition returns to Queens Park tonight, 18 April, after the Easter break but for some players it has been business as usual in recent competing and training for representative honours.

Four young local hockey players have been selected to represent Darling Downs School Hockey.

Lincoln Bryant and Lauren Ryan (goalkeeper) have made it into the 13-15 years teams and Max and Malcolm Bryant have both been selected to play in the 16-19 years team.

Meanwhile some of the regions most experienced players are gearing up for representative honours at the Queensland Masters Women’s Titles being held this weekend according to Warwick Hockey Association Participation Director Sarah Monk.

“In a celebration of skill, camaraderie, and unwavering passion, women’s field hockey teams from across the state will converge Maryborough this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday,” she said.

“The Warwick team are looking forward to a fun weekend playing lots of hockey and catching up with many friends made throughout the years.”

With the seniors and representative seasons already underway, the only tier of competition left to hit off is the Warwick Junior Hockey which begins in just over a week and large numbers have already registered for the season.

Monk said they were excited by the number of juniors this year and there was still plenty of time for more.

“We have an amazing 95 juniors already registered for the season,” she said.

“There is still plenty of time to register if you haven’t already – we start on Saturday 27April.

Our juniors will hit off at 8:30am with the U8 Condistixs and U10s sharing the turf. At 9:30 the U12s will play their games, utilising both the turf and grass fields. At 10:30am our U14s take to the fields.

“With sticks clutched tightly in hand and dreams as vast as the turf before them, young athletes across the district lace up their shoes for the inaugural season of junior hockey at Warwick.

“This moment marks the beginning of a stage that not only nurtures raw talent but also fosters a sense of camaraderie and sportsmanship among the budding stars of tomorrow.

“Warwick Junior hockey will start with many eager young faces joining the ranks of locals who call the hockey club home.”
