Local trainers successful at meeting

Local Southern Downs and Granite Belt trainers have had a strong showing at the Warwick Turf Club’ Disability Awareness Race Day held on Thursday.

The locals were hard to beat in five of the nine races on the card winning two and finishing second in three others/

Trainer Jack Brown started the strong local performance with Boomtime Now winning race one.

Race two, one of the highlights of the day, saw Garry Osborn’s Missy’s Ready finishing second behind Diamond Lass in the Race 2 Ratings Band 0-58 Handicap over 800 metres.

Diamond Lass, trained by Danny Bougoure with Jace McMurray on board set a new race record to take the win.

Local trainer Rob Bowen was the man behind race six winner Dash Dash Dash while Michael Hemmings came close to training a double with Too Much Makeup finishing second in race seven while Hemmings next horse Super Duck won race eight.

The Warwick Turf Club’s next race meeting on Tuesday 21 May will have races on the card and carry provincial status prize money – a great achievement for the Club.
