Entries are now open for the second annual Untamed Border Run Festival to be held in the hills and properties around Killarney 22-23 June.

President of the organising committee said the event attracted competitors from around Australia.

“Although there are many participants who do it “just for fun” and we advertise to “come run/walk or skip in the mountains”, there are many very competitive entrants,” she said.

“Our inaugural event in June 23 attracted entrants from country Victoria, Adelaide, Sydney, Cairns and country Qld and NSW flying in purely to compete.

“We believe this race will be a sort after event on the annual running calendar in coming years.

“Word is getting out how spectacular the scenery is and as described by the winner of the 50km event last year “the race was flawless with great organisation, course marking and atmosphere”. “

She said the event was run by a new not for profit incorporated association based at Killarney.

“Our committee of three work tirelessly to organise the Untamed Border Run festival.

“Now, in our second year we are excited to present 2 days of trail running events: 50km, 21km, two x 10km and the Kids Cattle Yard Dash.

“Headquarters for the run is at the Killarney Showgrounds however the run courses start at remote locations in both Qld and NSW.

“The courses showcase our scenically beautiful landscapes and with the support of local landowners, runners traverse through areas not normally accessible to the public.

“Last year we welcomed 200 competitors to our inaugural event and this year entries are flowing in at a pleasing rate.”
