Stanthorpe Ladies golf

The ladies enjoyed a beautiful day for golf for their stableford event. Mei Bell played really well and was the outright winner with 34 points. Linda Kelly also had a good round and was runner up with 30 points on a count back from Helen Jones. Pin shots were won by Mei on the 12th, Lisa Stuart on the 7/16th and the 17th and Lynette Ludlow on the 5/14th.

Stanthorpe Golf

Stanthorpe golfers were to play the June monthly medal on Saturday 1 June and with an overcast sky and the threat of rain during the day, not all nominated players turned out for the day.

For those who did, the early morning group had the favoured time of day, the pm group getting in a half round before the rain started. After taking shelter in the club house, the decision was made that a nine-hole event would be the preferred option and be sponsored by the golf club, the medal round being abandoned and rescheduled.

Visitor, Jacob Steele, had a very good front nine of 38 which was just two over par for the shortened day. Playing off AGU 11, he returned a nett 32.5 to be the declared winner. Close on his tail was Mark McCosker to take runner up with nett 34.5 holding out Rod Paye on the same score after the count back was used. Greg Fraser and Ivan Juriss also had a good front nine holes for nett 35 to feature in the run down.

The ladies event resulted in Filomena Silver taking first prize with a nett 37 just a couple ahead of runner up, Nikki Waterworth on nett 39. Featuring in the ladies run down were Neta Thouard and Lisa Stuart.

The playing of the June monthly medal will now be held next Saturday 8 June and sponsored by Anderson’s Carpets. The programmed event was a stableford but this event will be held over to a future date.

Intending players will need to go to the on-line booking site to reserve your time.
