Warwick East Bowls Club

Matt Shepherd, Peter Ridgwell and Terry Banditt have taken out the Warwick East Bowls Club monthly triples on Thursday.

A full green of sixteen teams braved the rather dull and chilly weather. This improved towards late morning with the afternoon being quite pleasant. There were two teams on equal points at the end, with the winners being decided on margins. The winners were Matt Shepherd, Peter Ridgwell and Terry Banditt, with the runners-up being Ralph Tate, Ed Diery and John Harslett.

On Saturday at our mixed social bowls we played six games of triples. The winner overall was Al Foster, with Steve Tyter and Gunter Nicklich being equal runners-up. Cita Weier was successful in trying for the jackpot – this is the second time in three weeks that it has been partially won, after several months of zero results.

Next Saturday (15 June) there will be mixed social bowls as usual, with play starting at 1pm. Next Saturday is also the deadline for nominating for the open singles competition, with sectional play being held on Saturday 22 June and finals on Sunday, 23 June. Names are also required by next Saturday for our pennants teams. The pennants are not being played for until 17-18 August but team nominations have to be given to the SDDMDA by next Saturday.
