Range Runners conquer course

The presentations at the end of the junior camp.

Toowoomba Range Runners have dominated the Bullecourt Boulder Bounders Orienteering competition on grazing land near Dalveen.

More than 60 people took part with the top three places in the Hard One course taken out by members of the Toowoomba club.

The winner was Eric Lovell from Southbrook while the top woman, Cassy Reinbott from Toowoomba, was also a member of the Range Runners.

Neil Simson from the Toohey Forest Club won the Hard Two course while Fiona Caristo, also from Brisbane, was the best placed of the women. Her son, Thomas, was the winner of the Hard Three course.

The Moderate One course was taken out by Aiden Tomlins from Brisbane while Sofie Pearson from Junabee won the Moderate Two course. William Spoelder from Toowoomba was the winner of the Easy course while Harry Cooper from Inglewood won the Very Easy course.

The competition also doubled as the end of the training camp for junior orienteers from all over South East Queensland.

Thirty-two of the state’s top young orienteers were in the region for four days of intensive training and competition. The juniors were meeting to hone their skills in the lead up to the Queensland Schools Orienteering Championships being held on 20/21 July.

The group included six young orienteers from the local region including The six include Inglewood’s Matilda Cooper, Sasha Kendall of Stanthorpe, Liam, Margaret and Erin O’Dea from The Summit and Ewan Keith from Wyberba.
