Twelve clubs have taken part in the Stanthorpe Pony Club campdraft and sporting gymkhana held over the weekend at the Stanthorpe Showground with the host club running out big winners.

Club president Emily Gilbert said clubs included Warwick, Rosewood, Graves End, Cambooya, Oakey, Millmeran , Dalby, Ipswich, Tenterfield, Goondiwindi and Chinchilla took part in the event.

“We had 48 riders for our Campdraft and 51 riders for our sporting gymkhana,” Gilbert said.

“Stanthorpe Pony Club was the highest scoring club on 350 points on Sunday.

“Our weekend wouldn’t have been possible without strong local sponsorship for a wide variety of local businesses and our cattle donors for the campdraft Michael Benn and Amanda and Greg Day.”

She said the Pony club currently had 37 active members.

“We have a rally every third Sunday of the month,” Gilbert added.

“We have our break-up weekend coming up in November where we head down to Cabarita Beach with the horses.”

Our own Samantha Wantling was on-hand to capture some of the action and fun.
