Warwick Motocross Club is set to host the final of the hotly contested Somerset series on Sunday at their newly rebuilt Morgan Park track.
Club president Monique Andrews said the event – the second following the official opening of the new facilities earlier this month – had already attracted a strong field.
This is the third and final round of the series and will finalise the winners.
“The first two rounds have been held at Kilcoy MX club and the final round will be held this Sunday at Warwick MX Club,” she said.
“We already have more than a 100 entries and it’s still increasing.”
After holding a practice day on the opening weekend, the club have now held their first club day with around 100 riders taking to the track this past Sunday.
“It’s probably less than we were hoping for due to school holidays and Australian Junior MX titles happening in Perth,” she said.
“But we had great support from volunteers and lots of happy riders.”
The newly refurbished track now formed part of the larger motor-racing enclave at Morgan Park.
The club had been working on the track since March-April of this year and have also undergone a name change moving from Warwick and District Dirt bike club to Warwick Motocross Club.
Andrews said there had been an off-road motorcycling community in Warwick since the late 80s but the track had been closed since August 2021.
“When we went in there it had been flooded, it was eroded, it was overgrown, it was a hot mess,” she said.
