Kids loving new kindy

St Mary’s Kindergarten has been open for a few weeks and kids are loving the new centre.

A BRAND new St Mary’s Kindergarten in Warwick is teaching kids the wonders of agriculture in a modern and ergonomically designed facility.
The Government-funded kindy, located at 175 Palmerin Street, was officially opened last month by Bishop Robert McGuckin, Bishop of Toowoomba, He was assisted by parish priest Fr Franco Filipetto who blessed the kindergarten.
The blessing and opening ceremony was attended by children, parents and invited guests including John Borserio, Director, Catholic Education Toowoomba and Alana Crouch, Director, Centacare Child Care Services.
St Mary’s is one of seven new kindergartens in South East Queensland, managed by Centacare who has partnered with the Queensland Catholic Education Commission (QCEC) to oversee the running of the centres.
The new kindergarten at St Mary’s has been opened as part of the Government’s ’Kindy Counts’ initiative which aims to make Kindergarten programs more widely accessible to families in the region.
St Mary’s new kinder is an excellent example of how children can play and develop a sense of learning in an ergonomically designed environment.
The kindergarten consists of a single unit for 22 children and two qualified educators, in line with the National Quality Framework (NQF).
Facilities have been designed specifically for the kindergarten age group and embrace the NQF philosophy – using natural products and environments which are learning spaces in their own right.
Approved programs are delivered by qualified early childhood teachers and meet the minimum education requirement of 15 hours per week. The programs are aligned with the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline and NQF.
Full enrolment packages will be electronically distributed shortly for those on the enrolment waiting list for 2014 and open days and information sessions will be conducted early in Term 4
Any members of the community are welcome to call in, view the facilities and collect information regarding enrolment for next year and all future years.
