Art shows wild heart

Sturt's Desert Rose by Jac Pommer.

A LOVE for nature has brought together two southern downs artists in a new exhibition.

Botanical and wildlife artist Jac Pommer and sculptor Maggie Brockie will present Wild at Heart, an exhibition of paintings and sculpture celebrating the uniqueness of our Australia’s flora and fauna.
Now a resident of Warwick, Ms Pommer lived for 30 years on a property near Cunningham’s Gap. Her attention to detail stems from her acute observations of the cycle of both plant and wildlife through her many forays into the bush land and national parks of the Great Dividing Range.
Her love of the intricacies of nature and concern for the ever diminishing diversity of plant and animal life is evident in the resulting water colour and acrylic paintings.
Maggie Brockie lives on the Granite Belt working in her studio surrounded by bush and boulders. Using clay as her medium, often in combination with bush wood, Ms Brockie said she endeavours to express the character, essence and vulnerability of both endangered and common species.
Both artists exhibit regularly on the Darling Downs and Granite Belt, and have works held in local and overseas collections.
Wild at Heart will be held at Pyramids Road Winery, Wyberba and will be opened by Jolene McLellan, ‘Ranger Jo’ of Girraween National Park, on Saturday afternoon.
The exhibition will run until 13 October.
