WARWICK POLICE

SMOKING with children in their car recently cost a Warwick couple a $220 fine each.
The on-the-spot fines for smoking in a motor vehicle containing children under the age of 16 years have applied since 2010.
The car driver, a 53-year-old Warwick man, was issued with a Notice to Appear for unlicensed driving and had his vehicle impounded for 48 hours.
A woman passenger was also fined for smoking in the vehicle under the Tobacco and Other Smoking Offences Act.

Assault charge
A WARWICK woman, 51, was issued with a Notice to Appear in Warwick Magistrates’ Court as result of an incident at a service station in Helene Street.
She faces one charge of common assault and two of committing a public nuisance.

Traffic offences
A WARWICK man, 19, was issued with three traffic infringement notices after a two-vehicle crash at the corner of Wallace and Pratten streets on 18 September.
Police allege the man failed to give way, was unaccompanied while on a learner’s permit, and failing to display “L” plates.

Drug charges
A WARWICK man, 42, will appear in the Warwick Magistrates’ Court charged with possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug utensils after police exercised a search warrant at the man’s residence in Wallace Street.
Another search warrant led Warwick police to arrest a Locke Street resident, 54, charged with trafficking a dangerous drug, possession, and possession of utensils.
The man will also face charges in Warwick Magistrate’s Court of possession of property used in the commission of a drug offence, and possession of the proceeds of drug sales.

Local arrests
POLICE arrested a Warwick resident, 25, after he ran off when spotted by police.
The man was wanted in relation to various offences and has been charged with stealing, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle at night, trespass, and two counts of obstructing police.
On Monday an 18-year-old woman, and a 23-year-old male were arrested after a disturbance at a business in Palmerin Street, Warwick. The pair was charged with public nuisance and trespassing.
