Green fingers gather

“Gardening is the blending of our creative, practical and physical skills.
“While we cannot all be celebrated artists, or perform or write wonderful music and prose or rise to great heights as a statesman, each of us can be a self-satisfied artist when we garden, be it with a few pots on a balcony or with a large sweep of acreage.
“We garden to give ourselves and those around us, happiness and repose of mind as we express our artistic nature to beautify our surroundings.
“It is the creating, the designing, the surroundings and the selecting that entices us in to this wonderful hobby.
“If nothing else, we all like to have our own private patch looking pleasant and attractive, and so, we garden.”
That’s the inspirational message from the organisers of the 2013 Stanthorpe Gardenfest and Trade Fair.
The event will be held at Stanthorpe Civic Centre tomorrow, Friday 11 October, and on Saturday from 9am to 4pm.
The latest releases in garden plants which are tolerant of local conditions will be available. Gardeners will also be able to collect some inspiring ideas from the plants people and landscaping specialists as well as purchase a plant garden ornament to fill in that vacant spot in the garden.
