AA goes public

STANTHORPE Alcoholics Anonymous is holding a public information meeting on Friday
29 November at 2pm in the C.W.A Meeting Room, Victoria Street, Stanthorpe.
AA is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.
The only requirement for AA membership is a desire to stop drinking.
AA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution. It does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes.
Their primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.
The Stanthorpe Group has been going for 25 years and has now has meetings on Monday, Tuesday and Friday.
The purpose of public information meetings is to afford the local health care professionals, support
staff and interested public a better understanding of alcoholism and the organisation.
Guest speaker is Dr Neville O’Conner, a psychiatrist specialising in alcoholism and a good friend of AA for many years.
The meeting will be at 2pm for a 2.30pm start, and will last no longer than one hour. Light refreshments will be available afterwards.
