Gallipoli ballot opens

THE ballot for places at the 100th anniversary Anzac Day commemorations at Gallipoli in 2015 is now open.
Member for Maranoa Bruce Scott said there would be 8000 places made available for Australians – 2000 for special representatives such as direct descendants, the veteran community and secondary school students and their chaperones, and the remaining 6000 places (3000 double passes) accessible to all Australians.
“The 100th anniversary of the landing of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps at Gallipoli will be a very significant commemorative occasion,” Mr Scott said.
All ballot applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria including Australian citizenship or permanent residency and be a minimum of 18 years old on or before 25 April 2015.
The ballots close at midnight on 31 January next year and applicants will be notified of the outcome during March 2014 to allow time for successful citizens to make their travel arrangements and pay for the trip.
