In brief

STANTHORPE
AN attempt to smuggle cannabis hidden in bags of garlic came undone when police intercepted a vehicle at Applethorpe on Thursday, 28 November.
They found 1.5kg of dried cannabis in five separate packages when they stopped a utility on the New England Highway in Applethorpe.
Police allege the drugs were on their way to Tasmania for distribution by the 43-year-old man, a resident of Amiens.
The man was charged with possessing the drug and bailed to attend Stanthorpe Court later in the month.

Trio caught
THREE itinerant workers were also located in possession of cannabis during the week.
Two entered a drug diversion program and the other faces court in December. The three men were aged 23, 25 and 31 years.

Lock up tight
POLICE are again reminding residents to ensure they lock cars, houses and sheds after a series of break-ins occurred during the week.
A 19-year-old man was charged by police after being seen trespassing on rural property in the Pikedale area.
On the night of the 26 November offenders forced the lock of a gate at the Stanthorpe Ergon depot in Maryland street and stole a Suzuki motorcycle and helmet.
The vehicle is white with the registration number 547FZ. It is believed a utility was used to remove the motorbike from the scene.
Sometime on Friday or Saturday offenders smashed the sliding door of a residence at Amiens before searching the property.
They have then entered an unlocked shed and smashed the window of a Jaguar sedan to gain entry to the vehicle. Fortunately no property of value was stolen from the vehicle.

Drunk driver
POLICE intercepted a 28-year-old man driving a Ford sedan at 3am Sunday, 1 November
in Day Street.
After a preliminary breath test, the man was taken to Stanthorpe Police Station where he
recorded a blood alcohol concentration of .134 and was charged with drink driving offences.

WARWICK
Car impounded
WARWICK police will apply to have a Holden utility forfeited to the state after officers intercepted the vehicle on the Cunningham Highway at 9.25am on Tuesday, December 3.
The 24-year-old driver from Western Australia had his vehicle impounded after being caught disqualified driving multiple times. He was to appear in Warwick Magistrates’ Court later the same day.

Man in custody
A 27-year-old Warwick man was arrested on Friday, 29 November and charged with various offences allegedly committed the previous week.
He was remanded in custody and will appear at a later date on three counts of possessing a dangerous drug, two of obstructing police and one of unlawful trespass.
