A dancing century

HAPPY 100th, Florence Wilson.
Mrs Wilson turns 100 tomorrow and she has cards from the usual suspects to prove it.
The Queen has dropped Florence a card, as have the Governor General, the Governor, Federal MP, the Premier and the Mayor.
Mrs Wilson lives in Warwick with her son John and daughter-in-law Lorna.
Florence gave up dancing at age 94, but still dons her favourite dancing dresses for guests and photographers.
She will have lunch in town with a cancer survivor group on Thursday. While she lives on, cancer ravaged her seven siblings. In 1913, she was the eldest born to a coal miner’s wife in the Illawarra.
Florence has three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She never smoked or drank alcohol, surely a boost towards longevity.
And so, for the obligatory question for a centenarian – What’s her secret to a long life?
“Eat plenty and dance, dance, dance,” Florence said with a smile.
Wise words.
