FAMED bush poet Marco Gliori will host the official Australia Day celebrations in Queens Park, Warwick.
Mr Gliori will come to the city fresh from 11 performances at the Tamworth Country Music Festival where he headlines the Poets’ Breakfasts and hosts his own variety comedy show called Four Funny Buggers, during Country Music week.
The veteran of verse has attended the Tamworth Country Music Festival for over 20 years, where he is a record four-time winner of the Tamworth Performance Poetry Award, and five-time Bush Laureate Award winner.
Having launched his ’best of’ double album Poetry in Motion as well as The Naked Poets ’best of’ double album in Tamworth, he will feature tracks off the albums during Warwick’s Australia Day celebrations.
Mr Gliori is a former winner of the Warwick Australia Day Cultural Award.
He promises an afternoon of Australiana, laughter and all the things that make the Southern Downs a great place to be.
Warwick’s Australia Day celebrations get under way from 4pm at the Cowboys Oval at Queens Park and will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display.
The afternoon will include the swearing in of new citizens, the presentation of the 2014 Australia Day Awards, and entertainment.
