Drugs seized

STANTHORPE POLICE

A 34-YEAR-OLD male passenger is being charged with possessing a quantity of cannabis and seeds after the drugs and other material in the vehicle was seized by Stanthorpe police at Cottonvale on 9 January.
Police said samples have been sent away for analysis to identify the presence of amphetamines.
On the same night, police allegedly caught a 26-year-old man in the act of smoking marijuana when he was intercepted by at Applethorpe. He was charged with possessing dangerous drugs.
A third person, a 31-year-old tourist, was charged after drugs were located in his vehicle at Applethorpe the same evening. All will appear in court later this month.

Swallow attempt
IN a separate incident, Police said they struggled with a man they had stopped in a vehicle to prevent his attempts to swallow an alleged clipseal bag containing a quantity of amphetamines.
The 35-year-old man, reportedly an alleged former member of an outlaw motorcycle gang, was stopped at about 8pm Sunday at Applethorpe. He then attempted to swallow a clipseal bag, however, after a struggle with police, he was prevented from doing so.
During a search of the vehicle a machete was located under the driver’s seat. The male was later charged with possessing drugs, obstructing police and possessing a knife.
