LAST Thursday was Red Rooster bowls where 10 teams participated. Results were: first round – B. Friend, D. Meneely, E. Diery d G. Farmer, D. Sullivan, N. Farmer 15-7; M. Balfour, D. Christensen, G. Dent d B. Sommerville, T. Spence, B. Gibson 18-8; A. Wickham, G. Shelley, N. Wickham d C. Lawler, D. Miller, M. Dodson 14-10; D. Bushbach, W. Tucker, P. Collis d E. Norman, M. Wright, M. O’Leary 18-12; V. Smith, V. Nelson, R. Philps drew D. Derrick, B. Johnstone, D. Rabbit 13-13. Second round skips only – N. Wickham d P. Collis 18-5, M. O’Leary d G. Dent 18-12; N. Farmer d R. Philps 20-8; B. Gibson d E. Diery 25-4, D. Rabbit drew M. Dodson 15-15. This one for the books: R. Philps and team drew both games, very unusual. Winners were N. Wickham and runner-up G. Dent.
On Sunday, the club had the honour of holding the finals of the district fours, results were as follows: Semis – B. Brown, R. Alcock, F. Taylor, M. Mills d A. McKinnely, C. Thompson, A. Butz, T. Banditt 33-11; D. Buchbach, W. Tucker, M. O’Leary, P. Collis d D. Sullivan, D. Callaghan, J. Simpson, D. Rabbitt 23-19.
The final was then between M. Mills and P. Collis, this was an excellent game with scores going backwards and forwards until Mick scored a 6 on the 17th end which Peter could not peg. Finally Mick and team won 22-14. Congratulations to both teams for an excellent game.
Next Sunday, the club has an afternoon visit from the Atherton Tablelands with 45 players. Club members please make every endeavour to play against them.
