Scott MP, 24 years and counting

THERE’S life in the old pollie yet.
Now in his ninth term in the federal parliament Member for Maranoa Bruce Scott yesterday said retirement wasn’t on the horizon.
Mr Scott was first elected in 1990 and has held the vast, sprawling seat, all 731,300 square kilometres of it, ever since.
“You never give up in this game,” he said.
“I hope that I’m doing the job for people, from Longreach on Sunday to Warwick here today, that demonstrates that I’ve still got the energy and the commitment.
“There’s no retirement plan.”
Mr Scott is currently Deputy Speaker in the parliament. He has previously served as Minister for Veterans’ Affairs and Minister Assisting the Minister for Defence.
