Green grant for seniors

TENTERFIELD’S Sunnyside Seniors Biodiversity Project has been awarded $3600 in state funding for community-based environmental protection work.
NSW Environment Minister Robyn Parker and Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall announced the grant this week.
Ms Parker said she was pleased to be able to support volunteer community groups to fund conservation projects and initiatives that require a small injection of funds to take a significant step towards a key goal.
“The grant is awarded under the Minister’s Conservation Fund and will allow Sunnyside to undertake works that both benefit the local area as well as build knowledge and understanding of biodiversity,” Ms Parker said.
Mr Marshall recently visited the Sunnyside Seniors Biodiversity Project and said it was wonderful to see local community groups taking the lead on managing their local environmental needs.
“I would like to congratulate Sunnyside for this project and wish them every success in their conservation endeavours,” Mr Marshall said.
“The members are to be commended for their efforts and achievements to date and I look forward to seeing them continue to develop their project.”
Through the Minister’s Conservation Fund, the Environment Minister can approve funding to community groups who are working on improving and maintaining conservation.
