School takes stand against bullies

The Severnlea kids say "no" to bullying.

THE Severnlea State School is doing its best to stamp out bullies and took part in the Say No To Bully Day on Friday.
School prinicipal Cameron Brown said the students were keen to wear orange and take part in the national event.
“As orange was the colour for this event we celebrated with a Crazy Hair Day,” he said.
“Bullying, in all its various forms, is something that students at Severnlea are saying ’No’ to. Bullying is unfortunately happening in all walks of life to all people.”
Mr Brown said the Severnlea school staff and students recognised this and were working hard to identify what bullying is, what it can feel like, and can be done about it.
“Education is the most important factor in reducing the impact of bullying and we are joining many schools in encouraging students to have a range of skills and strategies to create a positive environment for all,” he said.
“Remember if you feel bad, talk to someone!”
