Police briefs

THREE motorists have been arrested following a blitz on drivers in Stanthorpe in the past week.
Stanthorpe Police officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Mark Ireland said three motorists were charged with driving unregistered and uninsured vehicles.
Two people were charged with driving while unlicensed, and one disqualified driver detected in the blitz.
A 26-year-old Hong Kong man received a $1026 fine for travelling at 125km per hour in an 80km/h zone along Granite Belt Drive, Thulimbah.

Out of control
THREE collisions still occured in the Stanthorpe Police division last week, despite the high levels of enforcement.
At 11.10am on 17 March, a vehicle reportedly turned into the path of oncoming traffic at the intersection of New England Highway and Amiens Road Thulimbah.
Two people were admitted to hospital with one later being airlifted to Brisbane suffering stomach injuries.
In a separate incident a 19-year-old tourist lost control of the van he was driving on Mills Road, Dalcouth around 3.45pm on 18 March, and his passenger was injured.
At about 1pm on Friday afternoon a Toyota sedan collided with a John Deere tractor on Furness Road, Broadwater. The 40-year-old driver of the Toyota was transported to Stanthorpe hospital for medical treatment.

Hungry thief?
A 19-YEAR-OLD international visitor was charged with stealing last Tuesday.
Police allege that the man placed six packets of meat and one packet of cheese, valued over $70 in his backpack before leaving Stanthorpe Woolworths without paying for the items.

Drugs seized
TWO drug offenders have been charged with possessing cannabis during the week. Police intercepted two vehicles on New England Highway, Thulimbah on Sunday night and located a quantity of cannabis in both vehicles.
The offenders will face Stanthorpe Magistrate’s Court in April.
