Warwick East Bowls

Good to see Norm Madson back on the green. Red Rooster winners were P. Collis, runners-up Grumpy. Thanks to our sponsors of this day.
Saturday last saw the final of the club singles with the winner being P. Dipplesman who defeated R. Philps 25-22, congratulation to both players for such a tight game. Also played was a game of social pairs – V. Nelson, Tracy Foster d N. Hassum, G. Shelley 24-20.
Next Thursday 1 May is our open triples day – would all teams notify ability by 12.30pm for 1pm start. Members, the club selected pairs list is on the board, those wishing to play please enter now so competition can commence.

SHOOTING
SOUTHERN Downs Rifle Club Results 27 April, shot at 300 yards. Anzac tribute shoot with 11th Warwick Montrose Light Horse and 2nd Lockyer Light Horse troops shooting with .303 rifles. The .303 scores: Ross Bartley 93.7, Bruce Ferguson 93.5, Merv Bray 93.4, Les Pederson 92.10, Mark Saunders 91.1, Nick Suduk 87.4, Paul Reid 87.3, Ben Hoffman 82.2, Ray Kuhn 81.2, Holy Wilson 79.1, Paul Eastwell 78.2, Jorden Eastwell 70.3.

The shoot was conducted with overcast conditions but the rain held off with pleasant enough conditions. Following the shoot we had a barbecue lunch with Rob Bondfield passing anacdotes of his grandfathers time in the World War I, followed a talk from Bruce Ferguson about the Light Horses involvement during the WWI. To bring things a bit closer, John Skinner talked of his experiences during the Vietnam conflict. A great day and a chance to think of the sacrifice by all members of the armed services during times of conflict.

Southern Cross Bowls

Coming up next Sunday 4 May will be social mixed bowls starting at 1pm. Our open triples and fours competition has been extended and now nominations will close on 21 June. The triples will be played and completed on the weekend of 5 and 6 July. The fours will be played on 26 July.
A reminder that the Four Franks day will be on 10 May starting at 1.30pm. Names can now be put on the board for this event, which is always very popular.
Results of the ladies game played last Thursday: L. Heywood, L. Butler, Quita/Yvonne d J. Roots, C. Sawyer, B. O’Brien 16-13. Today, Thursday 1 May, we will start off with our monthly meeting at 11am. Following this will be two championship singles call-ups at 1pm, Y. Reid versus C. Sawyer and L. Marriott versus B. Cross. There will be social bowls also.
The wall hanging which was being raffled over the last few months was drawn last Saturday and the lucky winner was Chris Sawyer. Thank you to all who purchased tickets in this raffle.
