PICNICS, fashion and of course the odd horse or two were the order of the day for the 120th Ergon Energy Warwick, Picnic Races at the Allman Park Race Course, Warwick on Saturday.
“The weather was great – which is the best start we could have had,” Warwick Turf Club Secretary Kristen Doyle said of the colourful event.
“We had more than 500 people in the marquee area alone.
“There were five races on the day and lots of fashions on the field with great prizes on offer.”
Kristen said because it was a BYO event, the picnic races attracted a slightly different clientele to the club’s regular race meetings.
“It was great fun and there was a band after 5pm so people could kick on and dance,” she said.
The club’s next race meeting is the Killarney Club on 28 June and then they will be busy with a race meeting planned for every month until the end of the year.
